National Alcohol Strategy
The Australian alcohol industry supports the development of an evidence-based National Alcohol Strategy (NAS) and is seeking an appropriate and constructive input to the 2016 draft.
The industry encourages a focus on strategic and targeted actions in the NAS aimed at addressing specific misuse – rather than broad-based policies aimed at reducing availability, increasing prices, and restricting marketing. These policies are ineffective at tackling misuse and unfairly punish responsible drinkers and businesses.
